4 Ways to Make Delish Japanese Omelette Rice a.k.a OMURICE

1. Authentic Omurice (Omelet Rice)

Ingredients (for 1 serving)

Ketchup based rice
・5.6 oz (160g) Cooked rice
・1.7 oz (50g) Chicken
・1.4 oz (40g) Onion
・1 oz (30g) Carrot
・1 tsp Olive oil
・2 tbsp Ketchup☆
・1 tsp Butter☆
・1/2 tsp Soy sauce☆
・1/2 tsp Sugar☆
・A pinch of Salt and pepper☆
・A pinch of Consomme☆

Tomato sauce
・2 tbsp Ketchup★
・2 tsp Butter★
・2 tsp Water★

Omelet
・2 Eggs
・1.5 tbsp Milk
・1 tsp Butter

Direction

1.  Mince onion and carrot. Cut chicken into small pieces. Stir-fry chicken, onion, and carrot with a little olive oil.

2.  When they are cooked, add ☆. Mix well. After the ketchup has evaporated to some extent, add rice. When the rice and sauce are well mixed, it is ready to serve.

3.  Mix egg with milk. Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat and add all the egg mixture. Stir the eggs with a spatula.

4.  Remove the pan from the heat when the eggs begin to harden to the point that there are almost holes in them when you stir them. Make omelet.

5.  Mix ★ in a small pot. Bring to a boil, mix well, and the tomato sauce is ready.

2. Omurice with Starchy Sauce (Omelet Fried Rice)

Ingredients (for 1 serving)

Fried rice
・5.6 oz (160g) Cooked rice
・1 oz (30g) Ham
・1 oz (30g) Green onion
・1 tsp Oil
・1 Egg
・A pinch of Salt and pepper
・A pinch of Haimi (MSG)

Starchy sauce
・0.4 cup (100ml) Water☆
・1/2 tbsp Sake☆
・1/2 tbsp Soy sauce☆
・1/2 tbsp Sugar☆
・1/2 tbsp Potato starch (or Corn starch)☆
・1 tsp Rice vinegar☆
・1/2 tsp Oyster sauce☆
・1/2 tsp Chicken stock powder☆
・1/2 tsp Sesame oil

Omelet
・2 Eggs
・2 tsp Oil

Direction

1.  Mince green onion and ham. Oil the pan, and pour beaten egg first. Place rice immediately on top of egg. Stir-fry rice with the image of coating rice with egg.

2.  Add green onion and ham. Stir and season it with haimi, salt, and pepper. Stir-fry until the rice is dry and crispy.

3.  Mix ☆ in a small pot. Heat and stir until the sauce becomes sticky. Turn off the heat and add sesame oil at the end.

4.  Make a thin omelet with egg and a little oil. Wrap the fried rice you just made with the thin omelet.

5.  Place the omu rice on a plate and pour the starchy sauce on top.

3. Omurice with Hayashi Sauce (Omelet Rice with Hashed Beef)

Ingredients (for 1 serving)

Butter rice
・5.6 oz (160g) Cooked rice
・1 oz (30g) Onion
・1 oz (30g) Carrot
・2 tbsp Corn
・1/2 tsp Olive oil
・1 tsp Butter
・A pinch of Salt and pepper

Hayashi sauce (2-3 servings)
・5.3 oz (150g) Onion
・3.5 oz (100g) Thinly sliced beef
・2 oz (60g) Mushroom
・1 tsp Oil
・1.25 cups (300ml) Water
・2 pieces of Hayashi roux

Omelet
・2 Eggs
・1.5 tbsp Milk
・1 tsp Butter

Direction

1.  Slice onion and mushroom. Cut beef into bite-sized pieces. Stir-fry onion with oil until soft.

2.  Add beef. When beef is almost cooked, add mushroom and water. Bring to a boil. Simmer on low heat for 20 minutes.

3.  Add hayashi roux, and simmer on low heat for 10 more minutes.

4.  In a clean pan, stir-fry minced onion and carrot with oil. Add corn, butter and rice. Stir to combine and season it with salt and pepper.

5.  Mix egg with milk. Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat and add all the egg mixture. Stir the eggs with a spatula.

4. Omurice with Meat Sauce (Omelet Rice with Meat Sauce)

Ingredients (for 1 serving)

Garlic butter rice
・5.6 oz (160g) Cooked rice
・Half clove of garlic
・1 tsp Butter
・A pinch of Salt and pepper

Meat sauce (2-3 servings)
・4.2 oz (120g) Ground beef+pork
・4 oz (110g) Onion
・2 oz (60g) Carrot
・Half clove of garlic
・1 tsp Oil
・4 tbsp Ketchup☆
・2 tsp Sake☆
・2 tsp Sugar☆
・2 tsp Worcestershire sauce☆
・1 tsp Consomme☆
・1 tsp Soy sauce☆
・1 tsp Butter☆
・A pinch of Salt and pepper☆
・1/3 cup (80ml) Water

Omelet
・2 Eggs
・1.5 tbsp Milk
・1 tsp Butter

Direction
