This Addictive Rice Cooker Ramen Flavored Rice is My New Obsession!

Last modified date

If you love the savory, umami-rich flavor of Japanese ramen, you have to try this recipe! We are making “Takikomi Gohan” (Japanese mixed rice) using a rice cooker, but with a special ramen-flavored twist. It is incredibly simple—just prep the ingredients, toss them in, and let the rice cooker do the work.

Ingredients (1 Serving)

  • Raw rice: 150g (5.3 oz)

  • Pork loin: 100g (3.5 oz)

  • Green onion: 50g (1.8 oz)

  • Naruto (Fish cake): 40g (1.4 oz)

    • Note: You can substitute this with other types of fish cakes or omit it if preferred.

[Pork Marinade]

  • Sake: 1 tsp

  • Soy sauce: 1 tsp

  • Sugar: 1/2 tsp

[Cooking Sauce]

  • Water: 220ml (0.93 US cup)

  • Soy sauce: 1.5 tbsp

  • Shantung: 1 tsp

    • Note: You can also use chicken stock powder or your favorite bouillon.

  • Sugar: 1/2 tsp

  • Salt: A dash

  • Oil: 2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash the Rice: Rinse the rice by changing the water several times. Once the water runs almost clear, drain it completely in a sieve.

  2. Prep the Ingredients: Finely chop the pork loin and naruto. Thinly slice the green onions.

  3. Marinate the Pork: Combine the pork with the [Pork Marinade] ingredients (sake, soy sauce, and sugar) and let it sit for a few minutes.

  4. Combine in the Pot: Place the drained rice and all the [Cooking Sauce] ingredients into the rice cooker pot. Mix well.

  5. Layer the Toppings: Layer the pork, green onions, and naruto on top of the rice in that order. Spread them out evenly to ensure even cooking.

  6. Cook: Set your rice cooker to the “Regular Rice” or “Normal” mode and start cooking.

  7. Final Mix: Once the cooking is finished, open the lid and gently mix everything together.

  8. Serve: Transfer to a bowl and enjoy! You can top it with some extra chopped green onions if you like.

TIPS

Heating power varies depending on the rice cooker model, so we recommend filling it to no more than half its capacity. Overfilling the pot may lead to cooking failure.
