When does Japanese use “Janai” in the conversation? What exactly does that mean?

“Janai” is used in two ways:
      1. Denial
      2. Question (sentence tend to end in “?”)

So, if you say “Suki Janai”, it could be like this:

Watashi wa amai mono ga suki janai.

      →I don’t like sweets.

Anata, amai mono ga suki janai?

      →Don’t you like sweets?
By the way, native Japanese speakers use “Desho?” rather than “Janai” in the question sentence like #2.

      Don’t you like sweets?

Anata, amai mono ga suki desho?
