Honey Garlic Chicken that’s Easy & Delish! (Ready in 15 Mins)
Hi everyone, and welcome back to the channel!
Today, I’m thrilled to share a super quick, incredibly flavorful, and utterly irresistible recipe: Honey Garlic Chicken! This is a fantastic dish that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner when you want something delicious without spending hours in the kitchen. My version has a little Japanese touch with the use of sake, which adds a lovely depth of flavor.
This sweet, savory, and garlicky chicken is a crowd-pleaser and pairs wonderfully with steamed rice and a side of fresh vegetables. Let’s get cooking!
Honey Garlic Chicken (Serves 1)
Yields: 1 serving
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10-12 minutes
Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
Chicken (boneless, skinless thigh or breast recommended): 120g (approx. 4.25 oz)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper: to taste (a pinch)
All-purpose flour: 2 tsp
Vegetable oil (or your preferred cooking oil): 1 tbsp
Unsalted butter: 1 tsp
Garlic: 1 clove, finely minced
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
Soy sauce: 1 tbsp (which is 15 ml, or approx. 0.06 US cup – it’s best to use a tablespoon measure for this small amount)
Honey: 1 tbsp (15 ml, or approx. 0.06 US cup – use a tablespoon measure)
Sake (Japanese rice wine): 0.5 tbsp (or 1.5 tsp) (which is 7.5 ml, or approx. 0.03 US cup – use a half-tablespoon or teaspoon measure)
Optional Topping:
Finely chopped Shiso (Perilla) leaf: 1 leaf
Alternatively, you can use finely chopped fresh parsley or thinly sliced green onions (scallions).
Instructions (Keep it Simple!):
Prep the Chicken & Sauce:
Cut the chicken into your preferred bite-sized pieces. Season generously with salt and pepper.
Lightly dust the chicken pieces with all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, and sake for the sauce. Set aside.
Sear the Chicken:
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown.
Flip the chicken, then add the butter and minced garlic to the pan. Cook for another 2 minutes, or until the chicken is mostly cooked through and the garlic becomes fragrant (be careful not to burn the garlic!).
Make the Glaze & Finish:
Pour the pre-mixed honey garlic sauce into the pan over the chicken.
Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it bubble gently for 1-2 minutes, stirring and tossing the chicken frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the chicken beautifully.
Serve:
Once the sauce has glazed the chicken and it’s cooked through, transfer it to a plate.
Garnish with your choice of finely chopped shiso, parsley, or green onions, if desired. Serve immediately with hot steamed rice. Enjoy!
And there you have it – a delicious Honey Garlic Chicken that’s ready in no time! It’s savory, sweet, garlicky, and so satisfying.
