What is Ohkawa-so at Ashinomaki Hot Spring Town?
Ohkawa-so is the historic ryokan (Japanese style hotel) located in Aizuwakamatsu city, Fukushima prefecture. The area around this ryokan is famous for natural hot spring, and the town is called Ashinomaki hot spring town.
The historic building has a beautiful space that makes you feel the gentle warmth of a wooden structure. You can enjoy a superb view of the mountains and canyons from the open-air bath in the hotel.

Why Is It Real life Locations?
First of all, the main reason why this ryokan is said to be “real life location” of Demon Slayer is that the design of the ryokan’s lobby (seems like it’s the double height) is similar to “Mugen Castle (無限城)” which is the stage of the final battle with Muzan Kibutsuji, the greatest enemy of demon slayer corps.
Secondly, the floating stage set up in the middle of the dance stairs in the hotel especially have been garnering attention. Shamisen (Japanese guitar) performances are held here on a regular basis, and this landscape (shamisen lady on the floor) is exactly said to be similar to Menaki who is close aide of Muzan Kibutsuji. She is playing biwa (Japanese lute) at Mugen Castle in Demon Slayer.

What Is the Highlight of Ohkawa-so?
One of the most attractive spot at Ohkawa-so is hot spring with tiered bathtubs which is called rice terraces style open-air bath. The amazing scent of cypress drifts from the cypress roof, and you can see the beauty of the valley spreading in front of you from the bathtub. The murmuring of Agano river will heal your mind.

It takes about 30 minutes from Aizuwakamatsu station by private free shuttle bus*.
