Shirataki Noodles with Miso & Spicy Cod Roe Sauce Recipe

SHIRATAKI NOODLES WITH MISO & SPICY COD ROE SAUCE

The main ingredient for today’s recipe is Shirataki Noodles.

It is called “noodles” in English, but it’s very healthy noodles made from konjac (konnyaku) yam actually!

There is a similar ingredient called “konjac” which is square shape made from konjac yam.
It has almost the same taste as shirataki noodles, but has more chewy texture.

Compared to the square shape konjac, shirataki noodles has more smooth texture and it could be coated with some kind of sauce (or soup) well.

Perhaps some people want to use this noodles as real noodles like ramen, pasta, or they could even use it in substitution for white rice by cutting into small pieces.

But today you will see the great appetizer for shirataki noodles using rich and tasty sauce made of spicy cod roe and miso paste!

Spicy Cod Roe & Chinese Yam Miso Soup Recipe


【Recipe (2 servings)】

Ingredients
6 oz shirataki noodles (white noodles made from konjak yam), Cut into about 6 inch
3 oz green pepper, Shredded
1 oz spicy cod roe (Karashi-Mentaiko)
1 tablespoon (sesame) oil
1 teaspoon butter
●1 tablespoon mayonnaise
●1.5 teaspoons parmesan cheese
●1/2 teaspoon miso paste
●1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
●1/2 teaspoon grated garlic

Directions

1. Pour sesame oil in a pan. Stir-fry shirataki for about 5 min to extract water.

2. Add green pepper to the pan, and stir-fry for 1-2 min. (Don’t heat green pepper too long otherwise they would lose crunchy texture).

3. Turn off the heat, and add butter. Stir well.

4. Add all of ● seasonings, and stir well again.
