FLUFFY TOFU & HANPEN BALLS RECIPE

Iv’e wanted to make delicious fritters again just like SHRIMP FRITTERS miso soup recipe.

However, getting shrimp is kind of expensive and I feel lazy… Also, I rather want to make healthier food not using much oil.

Then I came up with this idea FLUFFY TOFU & HANPEN BALLS RECIPE!

There are three points for the recipe:
First, I chose to just broil the balls with little bit of oil.
Second, It is said that tofu and hanpen contain good-quality protein.
Third, crab stick have great flavor to feel seafood instead of using shrimp.

So this recipe is not only delicious but also EASY and HEALTHY!

Most importantly, you must use miso paste and sugar with pinch of salt and pepper for the seasonings.
So that the balls will have nice and strong taste by itself, you don’t have to make any sauce with it. (You can put slight amount of soy sauce to enhance the flavor though).

【Recipe (2 servings)】

Ingredients
4 oz (1 sheet) hanpen, Cut into quarters
1.5 oz crab stick, Sliced or Chopped
3.5 oz tofu
1 oz green onion, Minced
1 tablespoon potato starch (or corn starch)
1/2 teaspoon miso paste (fermented soybean paste)
1/2 teaspoon sugar
A pinch of salt and pepper

Directions

1. Mix tofu, hanpen, and all of seasonings in a plastic bag. Knead well with your hand.

2. Add crab stick and green onion into the bag, and knead well again.

3. Make 8 balls.

4. Broil the balls in a pan with oil.

5. Broil both sides of balls until the surface get brown.
